living projects in Claude Design
Claude Design manages its connections separately from Claude.ai, so Living Projects is added here on its own.
1Add Living Projects
Copy this link first. You'll paste it in step 6.
https://connect.livingprojects.net/mcpOpen Claude and click Design in the menu on the left.
You'll see a box that says "Claude Design lives here now". Click Visit the standalone homepage, and Design opens in its own window.
In Design, click the + next to where you type, then click Manage connectors.
A Connectors window opens. Click Browse directory at the bottom right.
This takes you to Claude's Connectors page. Click + Add at the top right, then Add custom connector.
Type Living Projects as the name, and paste the link where it says MCP server URL. Click Continue.
Then choose your storage, the same way as for Claude.
2How to ask in Design
START A NEW CHAT WITH "@livingprojects list homes"
Claude Design may mistake your request for a design task or say it can’t find Living Projects. To get started, open a new chat and type: @livingprojects list homes
When your list of homes appears, you can ask for what you need.
Without @livingprojects
create home TRIP TO EUROPE
In a new chat, Design thinks you want a web page called "home", and starts building one.
With @livingprojects
@livingprojects list homes
Design shows your list. Then:
create home TRIP TO EUROPE in Dropbox
A home called TRIP TO EUROPE is created in your Dropbox.
Always name your storage
In Design, say which storage: Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive. Without it, Design may create your project in the wrong one, or create it twice.
Your project is inside another folder?
Say where it is, and Design goes straight to it.
@livingprojects we are working in /Projects/WEBSITE DESIGN
Another way in
If @livingprojects doesn't work, start a new chat with:
find living projects connector
Then ask for what you need in the next message.
3How Design works
We tested Living Projects in Design many times. Design makes more of its own choices than other AIs and seats. That’s how Design works on its own, not something Living Projects does. With Living Projects in Design, it helps to check what was saved, confirm before it goes ahead, and ask in a different way when something doesn’t happen. These are the things we saw.
When it can't find Living Projects
Design can forget Living Projects later in a chat. Bring it back with @livingprojects list homes, or @livingprojects read and your home's name.
Design may say Living Projects can't do something, when it can.
If Design gets stuck, start a new chat. It works better than asking again in the same one.
Design may look in your storage on its own first, before it uses Living Projects.
With three storages connected, Design can be slower.
When it saves
Design sometimes saves in its own project instead of your project's folder.
Notes from Design are saved in Claude Notes, the same folder as the rest of Claude.
Design may tidy your words. If you want something saved in your own words, ask for that.
Design tells you what Living Projects did in its own words, and may leave something out. To be sure, look in your storage.
When it decides
Design may say it will do something, and then not do it. Check your storage first; if it isn't there, ask again.
Design sometimes picks small things itself, like a folder name or your project's description. Check them.
When Design asks for your okay, it may show a "Decide for me" button. If you click it, Design chooses for you.
If you ask Design to read your project, it may start organizing it instead.
When there's a new version
Claude Design manages its connections separately from Claude.ai. If you use Living Projects in both, you'll need to reconnect it in each one.
This is how Design works with Living Projects right now. It may change as Design grows.
Please check with your platform on where things move or how they change because it depends on the update.
