Connected. Use it in any new chat.
Is it connected?
Ask Claude:
Claude returns a list of your projects. Before you create your first project, the list is empty.
Settings → Customize → Connectors. If it's connected, Living Projects is in the list, with a tick.
3Start a project
Open a new chat in Claude. Tell Claude what you want to call your project.
1Make a home for your project
Create a home using Living Projects and call it TRIP TO EUROPE.
Use your own project’s name.
What happens
“Create a home” creates a project folder in your storage, with the files and subfolders Living Projects needs to work. All the information about your project is stored here.
Keep these file and folder names unchanged so Living Projects can work properly.
- the Living Projects folder
- HOME.md
- the folder ending in RECORD
- each notes folder: Claude Notes, GPT Notes, Gemini Notes
- Parking Lot
- plugin
2Save as you go
hotel booked for the 12th to the 16th; next, the train from Paris to Lyon. Save this.
Claude saves your note in the project’s Claude Notes folder. When the exact wording matters, ask it to save your exact words.
The words can differ a little. Look for: verified, the path, and your AI's notes folder.
3Continue in a new chat
we're working in TRIP TO EUROPE home — where were we?
What happens
Your AI uses the Living Projects plugin to read the saved information in your project’s home. It can then tell you where the project stands and help you continue. You don’t have to explain the project again.
Can’t find Living Projects in a new chat? Click + in the message box, open Connectors, and switch Living Projects on.

Where it works
A BUILDER AI · CLAUDE CODE
With Living Projects, every seat can see everything discussed and decided. A builder AI like Claude Code can take those details and build: write code, make a website or another product, and run things chat and Cowork can't.
Claude Code also keeps its own notes and remembers from one session to the next, without Living Projects. Using both means two sets of notes. You can turn off Claude Code's auto memory for that project only, to keep only Living Projects. Just ask Claude Code: turn off auto memory for this project
If you want each new Claude Code session to start already knowing your project:
- Click Copy to copy this line:
@Living\ Projects/HOME.md - Start Claude Code and choose your project's main folder as the folder to work in.
- Paste the line and ask: make a CLAUDE.md file with this line
From then on, each new session starts already knowing your project.
Good to know
Permissionswhen Claude asks before it saves, and you'd rather it didn't
On the Living Projects permissions page in Claude, you can choose which actions are allowed automatically and which need your approval, such as saving a note or reading your project’s home. Find it at Settings → Customize → Connectors → Living Projects.
Claude calls these Write/delete tools. None of them deletes your files.
Connect another storage servicewhen you want Google Drive or OneDrive too
Say it in any chat. Your storage asks you to Allow once more, and both are on the same connection.
Updateswhen a new version is available
When a new version of Living Projects is available, Claude lets you know with a short message in the chat. When you see it, reconnect. When you don't, there is nothing to do.
Reconnect
Settings → Customize → Connectors → Living Projects → Disconnect, then Connect again.
Then open a fresh chat.
Reconnecting restores access to one storage service
After reconnecting, only the storage service you selected is connected. You can add the others again by asking, for example: Connect Google Drive using Living Projects.
If your project is in a storage service that isn't connected, Living Projects tells you which service you need and gives you a link to connect it.
Claude Design manages its connections separately from Claude.ai. If you use Living Projects in both, you’ll need to reconnect it in each one.
Pause or removewhen you want it off for a while, or gone
Pause it for one chat
Click + in the message box → Connectors → switch Living Projects off.
Remove it
Settings → Customize → Connectors → Living Projects → the ⋮ menu → Remove.
Your projects stay. They are plain files in your own storage. Connect again any day and everything is where you left it.
Coming from Gemini?why you don't see every step here
Gemini explains each step and asks for your approval before going ahead. When it saves a note, it shows you where it’s saved; the note’s text isn’t always shown. Claude does the same work more quietly, so you may not see each step. It's all still there: ask what did you save?, or open Claude Notes in your storage.
Changing time zoneswhen you travel
Living Projects remembers your time zone when you connect. If your time zone changes, it helps to reconnect so your notes have the right date and time.
Where your notes are savedthe "Claude Notes" folder
Whether you use Claude Chat, Cowork, or Claude Code, your notes are saved in the project’s Claude Notes folder. Each note starts with the date it was saved. Saved 2026-09-29 · Claude
If Claude asks for a name for its notes folder, the name is Claude Notes. Please keep the name exactly as given: the folders are essential for the plugin to work properly.
Claude’s menus may change after an update. If yours looks different, check Claude’s help for connector settings.
